FUNGI: ALTERNATIVE LANGUAGES FOR COEXISTENCE

November 2020
Berlin Science Week x Falling Walls Engage
Berlin, Germany

For Berlin Science Week, Museo del Hongo’s team present “Fungi: Alternative Languages for Coexistence”, an online conversation about two of the museum’s recent digital works with their authors and key collaborators: “Mapu Kufüll” a 3D animation created by Sebastián Calfuqueo for the festival Ars Electronica 2020, in which Chile’s local edible mushrooms are revealed through the indigenous ritual of mushroom harvesting; and “ Chilean Sign Language for the Mycological ”, an audiovisual piece co-directed by Nicolás Oyarce and Nino Isensee, a pioneering initiative in accessibility to mycological concepts and the mushroom world .

Following the live stream, a little conversation took place in order to share and discuss the significant relevance of science engagement, which can be today revolutionary for education systems in the global community; and the transformation of the museum space into a lab or a playground for the integration of art, science and other disciplines.
