Cordones Miceliales

Andrea Gana, Pedro Marimba
2019

How to represent the mysterious universe of fungi through sounds? Andrea Gana and Pedro Marimba insert us in a subterranean sonic landscape in which soft sustained frequencies, interrupted by wooden, metallic and electronic vibrations, symbolize the exchange of information that takes place between filaments that are almost imperceptible to the human eye. Fungal mycelial cords are linear aggregations of parallel-oriented hyphae, whilst hyphae are the cells that make up both the mycelia and the mushroom, without differentiating from each other. Mycelial cords are capable of conducting nutrients over long distances.
